Contra-Indications to Waxing

A contra-indication is a reason NOT to treat. It is a good idea to read over the following before making your waxing appointment.

Total Contra-Indications

If you suffer from any of these conditions on the day of treatment, you will NOT be able to be treated.
  • Fever
  • Contagious or infectious diseases
  • Under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Cancer
Contra-Indications with Doctor's Permission

If you suffer from any of these conditions, you will need your doctor's permission to proceed with treatment.
  • Pregnancy
  • Cardiovascular conditions such as thrombosis, phlebitis, hypertension, hypotension, heart conditions
  • Any condition already being treated by GP
  • Medical oedema
  • Osteoporosis
  • Arthritis (severe)
  • Nervous Psychotic Conditions
  • Epilepsy
  • Resent Operations
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma (severe)
  • Bells Palsy
  • Trapped or pinched nerves/inflamed nerves
  • Acute Rheumatism
Localised Contra-Indications

If you suffer from any of these conditions on your day of treatment, this will need to be discussed to see whether we can proceed with treatment.
  • Skin diseases
  • Pregnany (on abdomen after medical permission has been obtained)
  • Undiagnosed lumps or bumps
  • Severe varicose veins
  • Cuts and abrasions
  • Scar tissue (2 years major & 6 months minor)
  • Sunburn
  • Areas of undiagnosed pain
  • Metal pins and plates
  • Loss of skin sensation
  • Menstuation (first few days may be painful - but depends on how you feel on the day)
